Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. She became chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist and host of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Her coverage included a variety of crucial stories such as the Iran-Contra controversy, tax reform and the budget, as well as the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively together with the president Reagan for summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
